WOW! What a day!
It was absolutely brilliant to see everyone at the Oxford Indie Book Fair on Sunday, and of course we were sorry to hear from those that were unable to attend.
It was certainly obvious that the fair was a huge success. We counted almost 1,500 visitors through the door and it's very likely that there were more. That's at least 270 people every hour.
The sheer scale of the event really hit home when everyone was crowded together in the North Hall to hear Paterson Joseph give his lively opening speech and truly hammered home by the mounting frustration of the photographer faced with trying to take a photograph of us all! You can see the group photo and a gallery of photos from the event on the home page of the website. If you want to use a photo then feel free, but please credit our photographer Edmund Blok when you do.
It's truly moving to hear all the kind words and compliments that people gave us on the day as well as the messages that are rolling in on social media as people post about their experiences.
So, of course our thoughts have turned immediately to the NEXT event. We'll be back in the summer -- look out for the announcement, and no doubt at all that we're going to be bringing the winter event back in 2025. Now, I don't know about getting any BIGGER, so I think that the focus next year is to be on how we can be even BETTER than before. All day long, we were looking at how things are going and taking notes on any rough edges and where things worked and as such we've already got a list coming together.
But what we also need are YOUR thoughts. How was it for you, what was good, what gave you problems, how can we improve?
We've put together a very short survey to dig down into a few areas that we'd like to get your thoughts on and there's space for you to tell us anything else you might think while it's still fresh in your mind.
